Georgia Medicaid Basics and an Overview of Home and Community-Based Services

Learn about Medicaid programs and services, including how to qualify for Medicaid based on a child’s disability or chronic health condition (Katie Beckett Deeming Waiver). This course will include information on EPSDT, GAPP, SOURCE, and a brief overview of CCSP, ICWP and NOW/COMP waivers.

Online “Open” Support Group for Partners of Autistic Individuals

This open group meets on the second Monday of the month and is for the neurotypical individual married to or in partnership with someone who is Neurodivergent.

This group may include student observers who at times may serve as Assistant Facilitators. This is AANE’s way of helping to train future facilitators who are training to be providers in the autism community. They are usually graduate students in social work, psychology, counseling or school psychology. Any assistant facilitators present are introduced at the beginning of the meeting.

Join us monthly for an open support group that offers Autistic women, age 50+ an opportunity to come together to explore issues such as:

Receiving a diagnosis later in life
Masking and Camouflaging
Finding Support; Building and Maintaining Relationships
Challenges Post Menopause; Decline of Executive Functioning
Mid-Life Identity
Managing Stress and Coping Strategies
Self-Care

Family Jump Nights at Recoil

Recoil Trampoline Park 3103 N Ashley St, Valdosta, GA

FAST has partnered with Recoil Trampoline Park to offer sensory friendly Family Jump Nights periodically through the year! During these special private events for our families, doors are closed to the public and there are smaller crowds, softer music, and MORE FUN!

FAST sponsors the full price of admission for a limited number of current FAST members. Siblings/parents can jump as well for a reduced admission group rate (paid to FAST). All admissions include unlimited jump time during the hours of the event plus a FREE pair of Recoil socks (required to jump).

*Spectators are always free at Recoil. Laser Tag & Virtual Reality not included. Please make sure to complete an online waiver with Recoil for everyone who plans to jump in your family.​

Online “Open” Workshop – Autism and the IEP for Caregivers of Autistic Children/Teens/Young Adults

Join AANE for a 90-minute workshop with Q&A for parents and guardians on the ins and outs of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for autistic students. Learn what our staff look for when conducting IEP reviews. This workshop is not state specific. Topics include::

Online “Open” Jackbox Game Night for Adults

Join us for camaraderie and fun! We will be playing a variety of Jackbox games that we will select as a group! Most games fit about 8 participants, but are still a blast to watch! We rotate through both games and players to have a great time together!

This “closed” support group is designed for Autistic women (40-60) looking to build an ongoing connection with a small community of other women. Online “Closed” Support Group for Parents of Adults (23+)

This “closed” support group is for parents who have an Autistic adult child 23+ years of age. Other adult family caregivers may also register for this group. “Closed” support groups are ideal for parents and other adult family caregivers who want to go beyond sharing their stories with newcomers each time at open support group meetings.

AANE support groups provide an opportunity for parents and family caregivers to voice their concerns and frustrations and celebrate hard-won and unexpected victories. Although each group will focus on different themes and questions, here are some of the most common ones:

Now that your child is an adult, how do you support and/or parent without power?
How do you keep the lines of communication open?
How can you help the Autistic adult find and sustain employment and live independently?
How do you motivate them to expand their social network?
What types of services have other families used and what were the results?
How have other members tapped into health, income, housing, and other benefits?

Online “Closed” Support Group – Intimacy for Men

This is a new intimacy support group designed for Autistic men in relationships to discuss physical intimacy in a safe, non-judgmental space. Through open dialogue, discussions will include demystifying what a partner might be looking for in a sexual relationship and strategies to grow intimacy. Group members will be free to ask questions and speak candidly about a range of issues, including performance anxiety, sensory sensitivities, and the impact of media culture on sexual intimacy.
