Online “Closed” Support Group for Women (35-50)

This “closed” support group is designed for women (35-50) who are Autistic. Through this “closed” support group, women (35-50) can build an ongoing connection with a small community of other women. AANE “closed” support groups for women also give women an opportunity to voice their concerns and frustrations. It also lets them acknowledge hard-won and unexpected victories. Common topics of discussion are:

Masking/camouflaging
Sensory sensitivities/overloads
Relationships
Self-care
Empathy

This 8-week gender inclusive women’s support group is for Autistic women (50+). Through this support group, members can build an ongoing connection with a small community.

AANE support groups give members an opportunity to celebrate successes and support each other through difficulties. Common topics of discussion are:

Spectrum Annual Holiday Party

Join Spectrum parents for a fun evening of food, entertainment, and door prizes. $5 per adult or family member attendee for pizza, salad, dessert and drink.

We will have a professional photographer to capture pics with your family or child with Santa or a genertic background.

Online “Closed” Support Group for Parents of Transition Age Youth

This 8-week AANE support group is for parents and caregivers of Autistic or similarly neurodivergent young adult children ages 18-22. This small group setting allows parents and caregivers to connect with each other, share experiences, celebrations and delivers a wealth of information.

Disinhibited Eating Behaviors and Intervention in Youth with Overweight and Obesity

Virtual

This lecture will discuss childhood obesity and when to address concerns. It will also cover the relevance of behavioral phenotyping in overweight or obese children and adolescents, and those who are at risk for complicated weight gain. Next, the talk will discuss the body of research on pediatric “loss of control” eating and interventional approaches. The lecture will conclude with a hypothesis-generating proposal for more precise phenotyping and intervention.

Assess whether intervention is required and what type of approach may be effective for preventing obesity and eating disorders
Incorporate research of behavioral phenotypes when working with children in larger bodies
Differentiate the types of behaviors that predict eating disorders and increased weight gain

Online “Closed” Support Group for Adults

A closed support group has the same group members (up to 12) for a set number of sessions (8). Closed support groups are ideal for adults who are looking for deeper connections and more extensive peer support from group members. For the best support group experience, closed group members should plan on attending all 8 meetings in the series. This group offers a safe environment where Autistic adults can talk with like-minded people, share issues and concerns, and celebrate successes. Common topics include: disclosure, self-advocacy, and relationships.

Art Class

Little Leaf Art Studio 101 S. Webb St, Hahira, GA

Art can be very beneficial to children with autism as it fosters self-expression & confidence. Creating art helps improve fine motor skills, coordination, and precision. It also offers a sensory-rich experience, with various textures, colors, & materials, which can accommodate the diverse sensory needs often associated with autism. FAST has teamed up with Little Leaf Art Studio (Autumn Orozco) to offer art classes to children on the spectrum again in 2024! These classes aim to provide a unique opportunity to improve to explore & communicate emotions in a non-verbal way.

Positive Impact International Christmas Party

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Christmas party in collaboration with Positive Impact International! This year’s event will be held on December 7th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at Stars and Strikes in Lawrenceville. Join us for a fun-filled morning of free bowling, laser tag, bumper cars, and arcade games for the entire family. Stars and Strikes will generously provide pizza, drinks, and a raffle with exciting prizes.
